思い出すということについて
ABOUT RECOLLECTIONS
昔あったことを懐かしんだり思い出話にひたることは、必ずしも良いとはされず、後ろ向きな行為、新しいことを求めない行為とされることがあります。しかしそれは本当にそのような事なのでしょうか。過去というのはどこかにそれが厳然とあって、思い出すというのはだだそれを眺めるだけのノスタルジックな行為なのでしょうか。
その人だけが知っていて、その人だけが思い出せるその出来事は、その人の「今」の頭の中にのみ存在していています。忘れたり、思い違えたり、つらい思い出が素敵な思い出に変わったり、思い出すたびにその姿は変容して行きます。人は思い出すという行為をするたびに「過去」とされているそのことを、始めからもう一度作り直しているのです。
誰もがやっていて、そうと意識されることのない創作行為。我々は「思い出す」という行為をそういった観点からとらえ直してみようと考えているのです。
Longing for the past or talking about memories is not always considered as good behavior. It is even sometimes considered as a negative behavior because it will not create anything new. However, we are wondering if it is like that. Is the action of recollection only a nostalgic action of looking at “the past” that definitely existed somewhere?
The incident that only you know and remember about, it exsists in your head “right now.” Every time you remember, the memory loses some detail, changes, orturns from a bad one into a good one. People create it again from the beginning every time they do the action of recllection of what it is placed as “the past” Recollections are popular and creative actions that you are not aware of. We would like to re-evaluate the meaning of recollection from that point of view.

写真作家、山田 亘、詩人 村田 仁によるプロジェクト。
様々な方に「覚えていることで最も古い記憶」を取材しそれを和文と英文とに文章化、その内容のシンボルを絵に描いた。その絵の上に、文章のタイトルの単語を配置し、それを星座として制作した。それによって全天を構成。星座それぞれの物語を読み、観測に使用することのできる星座本をプラネタリウムの鑑賞者は手にすることになる。星座本掲載詩の朗読、物語の朗読、星座紹介、全天図の説明が作家によって行われたあと、鑑賞者はペアを組み、お互いに相手の「星座」を作りあうワークショップを行う。本には新しく星座を書き込むことのできる頁が用意されており、本の所有者は自分の星座が書き込まれ贈られることで全天を完成させることになる。
こうして記憶の宇宙はどこまでも膨張を続けていくのである。
As a satellite project, Ko Yamada and Jin Murata held a performance workshop “The Constellating Recollections” at Mt. Holyoke College on November 13. The project consists of publishing a book of recollection and construction of a planetarium projector prior to the performance that develops into a workshop for audience. The project aims for
revaluation of actions of recollection as creations. The artists interviewed individuals from various generations about one’s oldest memories . They wrote stories and drew pictures from individual recollections as fable of stars and publish them as a book to issue to audience. With the book and performance of recitations , instructions and projections of words of stories on celestial, the artists and audience share the individual creations of recollections. The audience was partnered to interview each other and created each others constellation. The book with one blank page was supposed to be completed with the new constellation and presented each other at the end of workshop.
